RECENTLY PLACED : DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT FOR DCU EDUCATIONAL TRUST

Gilly Balmer Recruitment has been retained by Dublin City University Educational Trust to source a suitably qualified Director of Development to head up the Trust's Development Team.

This is a very exciting time as the Trust launched their ambitious campaign "Shaping the Future" in October 2015 and are now seeking an exceptional person to assist them in reaching their goals.

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a small Development Team of 3 and will work closely with the Director of Principal Gifts and other members of the Trust's Executive Management Team.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Development of Strategic priorities and projects:

  • In conjunction with CEO and Director of Principal Gifts, the Director of Development develops a plan of advancement that incorporates fundraising targets, strategic priorities and projects and major gift activities and oversees the deployment of that plan
  • Develops and maintains quality relationships with key individuals within the university to help create a more aligned culture of advancement within DCU
  • Development of the campaign's major donor prospect pool
  • Serves as Project Manager for a number of priorty projects
  • Works closely with the Prospect Research Manager to ensure an effective research service is in place
  • Oversees that the Trust's Development Team works with the DCU Alumni Relations Team to ensure Alumni Outreach activities are fully aligned with the goals of the Trust
  • works closely with the Director of Operations to identify events and activities that best cultivate prospects and strengthen long-term relationships of existing donors
  • Participates in the implementation of special events
  • Works with the Director of Principal Gifts to enhance an effective stewardship programme focusing on major gift donors

Development of Major Gift Prospects:

  • Development of high-level relationships with donors and the solicitation of major gifts from a portfolio of corporate, trust, foundation and individual donors in support of the Campaign for DCU
  • Cultivation and solicitation of prospects
  • Work with the Alumni Office to identify key Alumni that may assist in the advancement of DCU Campaign goals and objectives

Development of Major Donors and Trustees:

  • Working closely with the CEO and the Director of Principal Gifts the Director of Development builds quality relationships with Board members that help advance the overall objectives of the DCU Campaign
  • Devises Major Donor cultivation strategies in conjunction with the CEO and Director of Principal Gifts
  • Develops and maintains effective formal processes for the recording and reporting of cultivation steps and gift pledges and for formal gift acknowledgement

Education and Experience Required:

  • Educated to senior level
  • Experience of philanthropic fundraising
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to achieve goals while building and managing relationships effectively
  • Experience working with senior level executives
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate and manage new accounts
  • Proven experience in programme strategy and alignment

Salary:Very competitive

Annual leave:26 days per annum
